Filming Permits

Nash Farm
Nash Farm is a popular Gauteng location for filmmakers.

Film crews are always required to obtain film permits when filming on public spaces such as streets, pavements, sidewalks, government-owned buildings and so on. These permits are issued by local councils in respective regions or areas where shoots take place. The Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) recommends that filmmakers apply for permission at least 14 working days before filming is due to start.

The GFC will also help identify suitable filming locations - generic or scenic. Our online Directory offers listings of location scouts, location managers, facilitation companies and location agencies who offer services securing private locations.

For more information on film permits and locations requirements contact the GFC:

Location Filming Guidelines

The GFC has also issued guidelines to ensure that location filming in Gauteng is efficiently coordinated and to promote responsible location filming practices.
