It is with great pleasure that The Storyteller Pod would like to announce the successful applicants for the Animation Writing Training Transformation initiative.

The competition was strenuous and entry-level, mid-level and experienced writers were selected on merit. Writers with the strongest storytelling ability and a passion for crafting with words to entertain young minds were picked.

The Gauteng Film Commission will support the following ten writers to further their careers in writing for animated series:

Carmen McKay

Catherine van Schoor

Karabo Chauke

Kgalaletso Mataboge

Robyn Bergh

Makganwana Mokgalong

Nompi Vilakazi

Ntombizodwa Magugula

Selaelo Maabela

Siyanda Sibisi

The Storyteller Pod was so impressed with the level of entry, the sheer passion for storytelling and the talent among black writers, eager to voice the African Story and entertain the African child that we decided to sponsor an additional three candidates to take part on this programme:

Kgatlhiso Sephiri

Nokwazi Mocwiri

Sthembiso Xaba

Congratulations to these 13 storytellers who will receive:

  • Mentorship from award-winning Canadian Story editor, Clive Endersby
  • They will write on a greenlit animated series and earn their first international credit
  • Successful applicants will earn an internship on an established writing team, writing on an international series

This truly is a career-breaking opportunity.

Classes will start on 9 September 2017 at The Resolution Circle towers in Milpark, and run for 24 weeks.
